“Funke! Funke!! oun ja mi lara je the way you love me…”

This was the opening lyric to the popular song “Funke” that trended impressively on music blogs and social media platforms by universal act, Spyro. He sits down on the Fresh Face episode to discuss what he describes as his purpose to life – doing music!

Spyro (real names Oludipo Oluwasanmi David) hails from a Christian background. His parents are Clergies, and was raised under the tenets of core spirituality. Of course, his musical background dates back to his church choir days but he chose to venture into making secular songs.

Spyro has released the exciting music video to ‘Funke’ which initially was a freestyle inspired by the Big Brother Naija reality show. He describes his style of music as universal (a fusion of Afrobeats, R&B and Fuji) and shared his desire to collaborate with the iconic Wande Coal, who he also hopes to become the future of in Nigerian music.
