ICYMI: Omeruo’s Lame & Laughable World Cup Banter Twitter Trend

There was an interesting scenario on Twitter yesterday. Few hours before the Super Eagles preliminary squad for the World Cup was announced, Kasimpasa defender Kenneth Omeruo was trending!

NB: ICYMI stands for In Case You Missed It

The a careless Twitter trend which was perceived as a publicity stunt just to be in the news didn’t follow the usual method which is normally sparked by a particular activity which results to conversations on the social media platform, rather Omeruo was trending for different topics that are relevant at the time.

So many fans believed it as a paid trend initiated by the Super Eagles defender who wanted to be in the eyes of the public for the good reasons, from a comparison to David Luiz to Q&As down to his age in football.

Of course, annoyed football fans blasted and accused Omeruo of paying social media influencers to make his name trend on the same day the Super Eagles provisional list was released, which to many of them was a shallow move.

Thankfully for him, he was named in the squad.
