Manchester City finally ended their recent run of bad results after grabbing an important away win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Coming into the weekend tie following three straight defeats in all competition, Man City didn’t seem to lose their heads as they still put on an aggressive display straight from kick off.
That positive approach earned its reward on 22 minutes when Gabriel Jesus puts them in front with his fine finish and three minutes later it was 2-0 as Ilkay Gundogan converted a spot kick to give his side a comfortable lead.
Spurs were not keen on giving up though as they kept on pouring forward in search of an equalizing goal which they did get just before half time break through their star midfielder, Christian Eriksen.
That 2-1 first half score triggered an exciting second half with the home team notably pushing vigorously in search for that equalizing goal.
However, instead of scoring, Spurs found themselves conceding a third goal instead as Raheem Sterling made it 3-1 with a close range finish on 72 minutes.
That third goal practically killed off the tie as Mauricio Pochettino’s side doesn’t manage to score any more goals in the remaining minutes of that match.
City’s victory was certainly an positive result following their disappointing week of crashing out from Champions League against Liverpool and beaten by their rival, Manchester United at home.
