Bola Tinubu on Saturday announced that a joint counterterrorism operation carried out by Nigerian and United States forces successfully eliminated senior ISIS commander Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki, alongside several of his lieutenants.
In a statement, Tinubu described the overnight mission as a major success in the ongoing fight against terrorism, noting that the operation targeted the terrorist leader’s hideout in the Lake Chad Basin.
The president praised the collaboration between the Nigerian Armed Forces and the United States Armed Forces, describing it as a strong example of international security cooperation.
Tinubu also expressed appreciation to Donald Trump for his support and commended the military personnel involved for their courage and professionalism.
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to intensifying operations against terrorist groups across the country.
