Frustrated residents of FESTAC Town have served the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) a 48-hour ultimatum, demanding the restoration of electricity after enduring months of power outages and what they describe as unfair estimated billing.
The residents took their grievances to EKEDC's headquarters, staging a protest to highlight the prolonged blackout, which they say has severely disrupted businesses, households and everyday life across the community.
Carrying placards and chanting slogans, the protesters accused the electricity distribution company of failing to provide a reliable power supply while continuing to issue estimated bills despite the extended period without electricity.
According to the residents, the situation has forced many business owners to depend on costly alternative power sources. At the same time, families have struggled to cope with the impact of the prolonged outage.
The community warned that EKEDC has 48 hours to restore electricity or face a larger, coordinated mass action to draw greater attention to their demands.
