Kunle Abounce Fawole has said he no longer has romantic feelings for his ex-wife, actress Yvonne Jegede, but would go to any length to protect her if she were in danger.
Naija Brain reports that the Nollywood actor made the remarks during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo while reflecting on the end of their marriage.
Recalling the breakup, Fawole said, “I had a girlfriend once, but it didn’t work.”
When asked why the relationship ended, he replied, “I think we’re just on different planes. I’d rather just be the one to say, ‘Oh, everything was my fault,’ so to speak. I don’t like the enmity of things.”
The actor said he does not believe in avoiding people he once loved or harbouring resentment after a relationship ends.
According to him, he would readily greet his ex-wife if they crossed paths, adding, “I don’t want to see somebody that I used to be with down the street, and I turn my face away.”
Asked whether he was still in love with Jegede, Fawole simply responded, “No.”
Despite that, the actor said his respect and sense of responsibility towards her remain intact because she is the mother of their son.
He added that he would not hesitate to defend her if she was under attack, saying, “Yes, she’s the mother of my son. I’m somewhere, and she’s in trouble, somebody is doing something, I’ll try my best to kill the person.”
