Former P-Square manager Jude Okoye has denied allegations by his younger brother, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, that he diverted more than $1.2 million in music royalties, insisting the matter has already been investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and is currently before the court.
Speaking in a video shared on Instagram on Sunday, Jude accused Mr P of trying to influence public opinion while the legal case remains ongoing. He also alleged that Mr P had repeatedly failed to appear in court.
Responding to claims that he and Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy, diverted a royalty payment of about $25,000, Jude said the payment was made in line with Mr P’s instructions in 2016. According to him, records from digital distributor IROKO showed that Mr P requested his share to be paid directly into his personal account, while the remaining royalties belonging to Jude and Rudeboy were paid into Northside Entertainment’s account.
Jude further dismissed claims that Mr P was removed as a signatory to P-Square’s bank accounts, stating that official bank documents presented in court confirm Peter remained a signatory to all the group’s accounts.
He also disputed Mr P’s assertion that it took over three months to hand over the group’s music catalogue backend records, claiming the request was fulfilled within six days and that download logs showed Peter accessed the files immediately. Jude added that payment records indicate Mr P had been receiving royalties in US dollars since 2012, contrary to claims that the dollar payments only began recently.
Rejecting allegations that more than $1.2 million in royalties had been diverted, Jude maintained that all payments were properly documented and distributed in line with existing agreements.
He also spoke about the toll of the ongoing legal battle, revealing that his accounts have remained frozen for more than two years and that he has been unable to travel during that period.
Jude said he would not comment further on issues before the court beyond responding to what he described as false narratives circulating on social media.
