Popular Nigerian dancer Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, has reportedly been remanded in a United Kingdom prison over an alleged assault offence.
Naija Brain reports that the singer and dancer is expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on September 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. for a plea hearing.
Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of the Nigerian community in the UK, confirmed the development in an interview with The PUNCH on Monday.
Kuti said Poco Lee is currently being held on remand and is expected to enter a plea during his next court appearance.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing,” Kuti said.
He explained that a plea hearing typically requires an accused person to indicate whether they intend to plead guilty or not guilty.
Kuti added that he would attend the proceedings to support Poco Lee as part of his efforts to assist Nigerians facing legal issues in the UK.
“I will also be attending the court proceedings as part of my support for the Nigerian community in the UK, to ensure that our fellow Nigerian receives the appropriate support during this difficult period of his life.
“It is important that we allow the legal process to take its course. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” he said.
Reports had earlier surfaced online on August 19 that Poco Lee was arrested in the UK over an alleged rape offence.
However, the identity of the alleged victim and other details surrounding the case have not been independently verified as of press time.
Poco Lee’s reported detention has continued to generate reactions online as he awaits his next court appearance.
