“Whether I Win or Lose, 2027 Will Be My Last” — Atiku Abubakar

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has announced that the 2027 presidential election will be his last attempt to become Nigeria’s president.

Atiku made the declaration while speaking about his political ambition and his plans beyond the forthcoming presidential election.

The former vice president indicated that regardless of whether he emerges victorious or loses the 2027 contest, he would not seek the presidency again after the election.

His position effectively means that 2027 would mark the end of his presidential ambitions, bringing to a close his long-running pursuit of Nigeria’s highest political office.

Atiku, who has previously contested the presidency on several occasions, is preparing to challenge for the position again under the ADC platform.

The former vice president has also continued to call on Nigerians to take an active role in the electoral process ahead of the 2027 election.

With the declaration, Atiku's next presidential bid is expected to attract increased attention as opposition parties prepare for what is likely to be a highly contested election.
