Nollywood Star Jim Iyke Recounts Dating Scheme Driven by University Culinary Struggles
Prominent Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has shared a humorous look into his university days, revealing how his complete inability to cook influenced his approach to romantic relationships during his student years.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the Lahor Podcast, the screen icon opened up about his domestic shortcomings, admitting that preparing meals was a skill he never managed to master. To bypass the daily challenge of feed himself on campus, Iyke confessed to adopting a strategic, albeit short-lived, dating tactic: courting female students specifically for their culinary abilities.
According to the actor, he would regularly pursue relationships with different women in his department, leveraging romantic interest to secure home-cooked meals. Once a partner had prepared food for him, he would swiftly end the relationship and move on to the next prospect.
The unconventional arrangement eventually unravelled when his pattern was exposed, dealing a significant blow to his reputation among his peers. Iyke noted that word spread rapidly through the department, effectively ending his success with the women on campus.
Recalling the incident with laughter, the actor reflected on the campus fallout:
"The only thing I don’t know how to do in this life is cooking. In university, I used to toast girls every week so they could cook for me. Once she finished cooking, I’d break up with her. The day I was caught, the whole department stopped giving me a chance."
While the revelation drew lighthearted reactions from listeners, it offers a candid glimpse into the actor's early life before achieving widespread acclaim in the Nigerian film industry.
