The founder and senior pastor of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has warned internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, against giving offerings in his church.
Naija Brain reports that the clergyman issued the warning during a recent church service, stating that the church does not need money obtained through fraudulent means.
Ibiyeomie condemned the presence of internet fraudsters in churches, expressing concern that some continue to engage in fraud while openly participating in church activities.
“Do you know that there are Yahoo boys inside church? They have no conscience; they are yahooing somebody, and they are very happy in church,” he said.
The pastor described internet fraud as theft, arguing that taking money or property that belongs to another person amounts to stealing regardless of how the act is portrayed.
“Yahoo is stealing. Is it your money? I don’t care how you paint it, Yahoo is stealing,” Ibiyeomie said.
He specifically directed Yahoo boys attending Salvation Ministries to take their offerings to another church, stressing that he was not interested in how much money they could give.
“In this church, if you’re a Yahoo, you will go to another church and give your offering. I don’t care how much you have,” he said.
Ibiyeomie also recounted the case of a professor at Rivers State University who, according to him, lost his savings to internet fraudsters and later collapsed and died.
He subsequently urged members of the public who associate with internet fraudsters to distance themselves from them.
