Nigerian Afrobeats singer Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has revealed that the death of his mother was the reason he took a break from music this year.
The singer disclosed this while responding to a fan on X on Friday.
The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had suggested that Kizz Daniel’s absence from the music scene could be because he was working on a new album.
However, the singer clarified that his break was not related to a new music project but was prompted by the loss of his mother.
“I paused for my Mom, not an album. Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family. Sorry I came late this year,” he said.
Kizz Daniel has remained relatively quiet on the music scene for much of 2026, despite maintaining an active career with music releases and international performances in recent years.
The singer has also experienced another family loss. In 2025, he revealed that his wife lost her mother in 2024.
Despite the difficult period, Kizz Daniel said he is focused on moving forward and supporting the rest of his family.
