Atiku to FG, States: Stop Condolences, Make Life Affordable for Nigerians
Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has urged the Federal and state governments to stop issuing condolences over tragedies and take concrete steps to make life more affordable for Nigerians.
Atiku made the call in a statement on Wednesday, following a series of tragedies affecting Nigerians. He said the recurring loss of lives demands urgent government action beyond expressions of sympathy.
“As Nigeria approaches Independence Day, this tragedy demands more than condolences. We must make life affordable again and treat every Nigerian life as precious,” Atiku said.
The ADC presidential candidate had earlier called for a probe into the deaths of three people in the Niger stampede.
Atiku’s latest statement comes amid growing concerns over the cost of living and the safety and welfare of Nigerians, with the former vice president calling for greater government action to protect lives and ease economic hardship.
