NDC Fixes Date for 2027 Primaries, Prices Presidential Form at N60m

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has fixed the cost of its presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the 2027 general elections at N60 million.

The party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, noting that the NDC presidential primary election will hold on May 29, 2026.

Cleopas said the sale of forms would begin from May 13 to May 18, urging aspirants to participate in the screening exercise with all necessary credentials and supporting documents.

According to the statement, “The sale of nomination forms will commence immediately after the screening exercise from Thursday, May 21 to Saturday, May 23, 2026, while completed forms must be submitted on or before Monday, May 25.

“Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be heard on May 25 and 26, while primary elections for various elective positions are scheduled for May 27 and 28, 2026.

“The presidential primary election will take place on May 29, 2026, in Abuja.”

Cleopas further explained that aspirants for state Houses of Assembly seats would undergo screening in their respective states, while National Assembly and presidential aspirants would be screened at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

He added that all aspirants would be required to sign an undertaking in line with the party’s code of conduct and guidelines.

The NDC maintained that its nomination fees are relatively lower compared to those of other major political parties in the country.

Under the approved fee structure, aspirants seeking tickets for state Houses of Assembly will pay N2.5 million for both the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms, while House of Representatives aspirants are to pay N6 million.

Senatorial aspirants will pay N8 million, while governorship hopefuls are expected to pay N30 million.

“For the presidency, aspirants will pay N20 million for the Expression of Interest form and N40 million for the Nomination form, bringing the total to N60 million.

“Female aspirants and persons living with disabilities will enjoy discounts of 50 per cent and 25 per cent respectively across all categories.

“The party remains committed to conducting a transparent and credible primary election capable of producing competent candidates for the 2027 general elections,” Cleopas stated.
