The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has cleared the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Dennis Guwor, alongside 45 other aspirants to participate in the party’s Assembly primaries.
The announcement followed a two-day screening exercise held at the APC Secretariat in Asaba.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Asaba, the screening committee, led by Chairman Dr. Uche Uzochukwu and Secretary Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, disclosed that 82 aspirants appeared before the panel ahead of the primaries.
According to the committee, 46 aspirants were successfully cleared after undergoing verification of their credentials and meeting eligibility requirements.
However, 36 aspirants were disqualified over alleged irregularities and breaches of party guidelines.
The committee noted that Guwor was the sole aspirant cleared for the Warri South-West constituency.
It also confirmed that three serving lawmakers in the eighth Assembly seeking re-election were cleared for the primaries. They are Funyei Manager (Bomadi), Harry Trakirlowei (Patani), and Orode Uduaghan (Warri North).
