The JSS 3 Habit: Ebuka Obi-Uchendu Shares Surprising Detail About His Youth

Media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu recently got candid about his past struggles with addiction, revealing he smoked for over a decade. Speaking on the MENtality podcast alongside Banky W and Aproko Doctor, the TV host shared that his smoking habit began in JSS 3 and spiked drastically during his university days.

“I smoked for 13 years. In university, I was doing about two packs a day,” Ebuka revealed, noting that it took intense, deliberate effort to finally quit.

The conversation took a deeper turn as co-host Banky W shared his own battle, admitting he fell into a pornography addiction while trying to curb a habit of promiscuity. Ebuka agreed with Banky's experience, pointing out how easy it is for individuals to swap one vice for another when trying to escape an addiction.

Weighing in on the medical and psychological side, Aproko Doctor explained that human behavior is inherently driven by avoiding pain and seeking pleasure. He noted that destructive habits often form as coping mechanisms for deep-seated emotional pain. Ultimately, the trio emphasized that self-awareness and strict self-regulation are the most powerful tools for breaking free from negative cycles.
