The Sound of Resilience: How Lagos Hustle and Silent Battles Birthed Nony 4DGD’s Upcoming Single "Many Men"

In the fast-evolving landscape of contemporary Afro-Pop, staying authentic is often a secondary thought to chasing viral algorithms. But for Opeloyeru Basit—professionally known to a rapidly growing fanbase as Nony 4DGD—music is less about following trends and more about capturing the raw, unvarnished truth of human survival. On May 20, the Lagos-born singer-songwriter is set to drop his highly anticipated single, "Many Men," a track that promises to be less of a standard club banger and more of a motivational manifesto.

"Many Men" is built on the foundations of struggle, resilience, and the painful yet beautiful process of self-discovery. It acts as a sonic mirror for the silent, internal warfare that everyday people experience while navigating the chaotic journey toward success.

“There’s this quiet war beneath the surface of everyday life,” Nony 4DGD explains, reflecting on the deeper meaning behind the lyrics. “You learn that the door untouched by a thousand knocks may finally move under a thousand kicks. It’s a reminder to push harder, become more assertive, and never fear taking risks.”

For Nony 4DGD, this mindset isn’t just a lyrical concept; it is a worldview forged in the fires of Nigeria’s economic heartbeat. Growing up in Lasgidi (Lagos), a metropolis defined by its relentless hustle and unapologetic grit, heavily dictated both his sonic identity and his personal outlook.

“Growing up in Lasgidi, where one hustler knows many hustlers and everybody carries an incredible hunger for success—that Lagos birthed me,” the artist says proudly. “And you know what they say? Lion no go ever born goat. That survival instinct is in my DNA, and it bleeds heavily into this record.”

Beyond the cultural influences, "Many Men" marks a massive artistic milestone for Nony 4DGD. It represents the exact moment he shed the imposter syndrome that plagues many emerging creators. He candidly admits that his early days in the industry were spent trying to mirror established giants.

“When I started, I was just trying to sound like someone else. Now I’m learning to sound like myself,” he confesses. “'Many Men' is the clearest proof of that growth. It’s the most honest I’ve ever been on a record.”

Interestingly, the path to this artistic honesty was paved with intense frustration. The creative process behind the song was so emotionally draining that the track almost never saw the light of day. Locked in the studio, overwhelmed by the pressure to deliver perfection, Nony 4DGD came incredibly close to scrapping the entire project.

“Honestly, 'Many Men' almost didn’t make it. There were moments in the studio where I wanted to tear it all down and start over. But that frustration eventually became the fuel. The final version was recorded almost entirely in one late-night session where something just unlocked within me.”

It is this willingness to bleed into his work that sets Nony 4DGD apart from his peers. In a market saturated with superficial party tracks, he is intentionally making art designed to stand the test of time.

“Now I chase truth. I make music for memory,” he concludes. “When you listen to my songs, you feel like someone actually lived it. 'Many Men' is not just a song; it’s a conversation people are already having in their own heads but didn’t know how to put into words.”
