The remains of veteran Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo were laid to rest on Thursday, June 18, in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State, drawing an outpouring of grief, tributes, and prayers from family, friends, and colleagues.
The funeral ceremony attracted a massive gathering of mourners, including prominent figures from the Nigerian film industry who traveled from across the country to pay their final respects to the actor, whose influential career spanned over a decade.

The Governor, who was represented at the funeral by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, lauded the late actor as a cultural ambassador who consistently projected a positive image of Abia State and Nigeria on the international stage.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ajagba emphasized that Ekubo’s life and career embodied the resilience and creative spirit of Abia's youth, serving as an inspiration for the younger generation to strive for excellence. He further commended the actor's bravery and faith during his final days, asserting that his contributions to African cinema would endure.
"The news of Alex’s passing came as a profound shock," Ajagba said during the official address. "Today, we mourn not merely an actor, brother, and friend, but a creative force, a cultural ambassador, and a proud son of Arochukwu whose talent brought honour to Abia State and Nigeria."
He added, "He carried his roots with pride and inspired countless young people to dream big and pursue excellence."
