Nollywood actress Eyiyemi Afolayan has said she is unwilling to build a relationship from scratch with a man, arguing that financial success often changes men's behaviour.
Naija Brain reports that the daughter of filmmaker Kunle Afolayan made the remarks during an interview with BBC Yoruba, where she explained that she prefers a financially independent partner because wealth can make some men disrespectful or unfaithful.
According to the fast-rising actress, she was raised in a wealthy home and expects any man seeking her hand in marriage to already be established financially.
"I can't build with a man. You know men; they are ingrates. If I marry a man who doesn't have money and he later becomes wealthy, he may remain with me not because he loves me, but because he didn't have the means to be promiscuous before.
"I was born into wealth. Any man who wants to marry me must be doing something for himself. I can't be feeding him, but I can support him," she said.
Eyiyemi also ruled out marrying into a polygamous home, stressing that she would never agree to become a second or third wife.
"I can't be a second or third wife for any man. It's not because I'm jealous, but because a polygamous home comes with a lot of troubles," she added.
