Military Airstrikes Eliminate Top Terrorist Commanders, 50 Insurgents in Lake Chad Region

A series of military airstrikes under Operation Hadin Kai has reportedly killed over 50 insurgents, including several high-profile terrorist commanders, in the Lake Chad region. According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the strikes were executed on May 31 around the Kirta and Arina Ciki areas.

The operation targeted known terrorist enclaves and logistics hubs following actionable intelligence on insurgent movements. Post-strike assessments confirmed the death of Khalifa Umar, a prominent Shura Council member from Sigir, alongside two field commanders identified as Abdallah and Abduljalil.

Beyond the heavy casualties, the aerial assault destroyed critical insurgent infrastructure, including logistics facilities, supply depots, and life-support structures. Security sources note that the sustained offensive has forced many fighters to flee their island hideouts for more exposed mainland locations.

While the situation in the theatre remains calm but fluid, officials expressed strong confidence in the troops' combat readiness and morale as they continue efforts to restore regional stability.
