“Nancy Isime: I Have My Own Mindset, Just Like Jesus” – Nollywood Actress Says

Popular Nigerian media personality and actress Nancy Isime has opened up about her unique approach to faith, stating that she does not conform to the archetypal image of a Nigerian Christian, but instead seeks a direct, personal relationship with God.

Speaking during a recent interview with media personality Jay On-Air, the award-winning thespian clarified that her spiritual journey is guided by intuition rather than strict adherence to religious figures.

"I don't serve mortals, so I don't have the need to perform for mortals," Isime said. "I would always have a mind of my own. I would always do my own thing. I would always figure out God for myself."

While she rejects institutional conformity, Isime noted that she still draws spiritual mentorship from specific Christian leaders, naming Apostle Joshua Selman as one of her key guides.

"Of course, I have anchors whom I listen to—preachers like Apostle Joshua Selman. When you understand the kind of preachers I listen to, you will understand where I am coming from. I am not your typical Nigerian Christian, and I don't want to be. I have my own mindset, just like Jesus," she added.

Isime Pays Tribute to Late Colleague Alex Ekubo

In a separate emotional gathering, Isime shared fond memories of her late colleague, Alex Ekubo, during his service of songs.

Reflecting on Ekubo's vibrant personality, the actress brought a moment of levity to the solemn event by recalling his legendary wit and playful nature.

"One thing nobody has really mentioned here is his bad mouth. Alex had a bad mouth," Isime joked, reminiscing on how the late actor never missed an opportunity to tease those around him.

She shared a personal anecdote about the humorous nicknames Ekubo frequently assigned to friends.

"He used to call me 'old 20 Naira'—the oldest. Even when I started to make money and look new, he said, 'No, you are still old 20 Naira,'" she recounted, noting that his sense of humor remained a constant comfort to those in his circle.
