Before Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, Priscilla Kuye Made NBA History

Before Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya made history as the Nigerian Bar Association's (NBA) second female president, Dame Priscilla Kuye had already etched her name into the record books as the association's first female president in 1991.

A respected lawyer and former nurse, Kuye rose through the NBA's ranks before becoming the first woman to head the body. During her tenure, she earned widespread recognition for championing human rights, judicial independence and the rule of law, particularly during Nigeria's military era.

Beyond the NBA, Kuye held several influential leadership positions and has remained a strong advocate for greater female representation in the legal profession.

More than three decades later, her groundbreaking achievement continues to inspire women in law, paving the way for leaders like Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya.
