Davido Says Biggest Fear Is Not Knowing When to Quit Music

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his greatest fear is not knowing the right time to step away from music.

The award-winning singer made the disclosure in a viral video circulating online, where he reflected on the fleeting nature of fame and the emotional challenges faced by celebrities after leaving the spotlight.

Davido said he would love to establish a therapy centre dedicated to supporting former celebrities, noting that the transition from stardom can be mentally and emotionally difficult.

According to him, watching once-successful public figures fall from grace has made him constantly pray for wisdom to know when to end his music career.

“If there is one thing I could build, I would build a therapy centre for people who were popular and very successful. Because it is crazy to be on top of the world and the next moment you are not,” he said.

Drawing a comparison with football, Davido pointed to Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, saying that despite his remarkable achievements, the football icon still faced criticism following Portugal's exit from the FIFA World Cup.

“Even in soccer, you win the World Cup, the Champions League and other trophies, and people still don’t think it is enough. For instance, look at my good friend Ronaldo—after everything he’s done for football, they still laughed at him for exiting the World Cup.

“That is my greatest fear. I have worked so hard for myself to come and spoil it with something. I pray to God every day to show me the right time to pack it up.”
