DJ Chicken Reportedly Arrested Over Comments About Seyi Tinubu, Lawyer Appeals For Release

Nigerian social media personality and entertainer, DJ Chicken, has reportedly been arrested by security operatives over comments he allegedly made about Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu.

Naija Brain reports that the entertainer's lawyer disclosed the development in a video, where he made an emotional appeal to the authorities to forgive and release his client.

According to the lawyer, DJ Chicken was arrested at the Ikeja Police Headquarters in Lagos State and is currently being held by security authorities. Although he said he believed the entertainer was in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), he did not provide official confirmation.

“Chicken is now with the authorities. He was arrested at the Ikeja Police Headquarters. But I’m very sure it is the DSS. He was arrested in connection with the statement he made some days ago about the son of the President, Seyi Tinubu,” the lawyer said.

The lawyer appealed to DJ Chicken's fans, associates of Seyi Tinubu and other influential Nigerians to intervene and plead for his release.

“Fans and well-wishers, people that like Chicken, people that are close to the President, please help us to beg. I don’t even know what to do now. The evidence is there. At this point, I’m begging you. Please forgive Chicken. It’s not okay like that,” he said.

He described DJ Chicken as his personal rehabilitation project, explaining that he had taken a special interest in helping the controversial entertainer despite his repeated legal and personal challenges.

“Chicken is my own personal project. It’s my own way of giving back to society. I just picked an interest in him. As a criminal lawyer, that’s why I picked Chicken. We are just managing him and trying to help him because he’s still part of society. He has messed up,” the lawyer stated.

The lawyer further appealed to anyone with access to Seyi Tinubu or senior government officials to intervene and help secure the entertainer's release.

“If you are a Chicken fan and you know someone who knows someone, whether in government or close to the President, please help us beg. Everybody I know who is close to Seyi Tinubu, I will start calling them now. The government should please forgive him. We will do everything possible. Please,” he added.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the Department of State Services (DSS) has officially confirmed DJ Chicken's arrest or the circumstances surrounding his detention.
