Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has broken his silence following the death of his longtime friend and colleague, Alexx Ekubo, describing the loss as one that has changed his perspective on life, faith and the uncertainty of tomorrow.
Naija Brain recalls that Alexx Ekubo died on May 11 after a battle with kidney cancer. He was later laid to rest in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State.
In a heartfelt post shared on his Instagram page, IK reflected on the past two months, admitting that he has struggled to come to terms with his friend's death while seeking answers about life, loss and God's purpose.
According to the actor, many people live with the assumption that there will always be another opportunity to celebrate birthdays, spend holidays with loved ones, travel, reconcile differences or reconnect with friends. However, he said Alexx's passing reminded him that "tomorrow is a privilege, not a promise."
IK revealed that he and Alexx had often discussed their future together, including business ventures, film projects, travel plans, family and the legacy they hoped to build. He said they believed they had more time, but life unfolded differently.
The actor noted that although he still has many unanswered questions, his faith has helped him find peace, trusting that God's wisdom is greater than human understanding.
He also paid tribute to Alexx's character, describing him as someone who lived fully, loved deeply, believed in people and positively impacted those around him.
IK admitted that he still instinctively reaches for his phone to call Alexx whenever something reminds him of their friendship, only to be confronted by the painful reality that his friend is gone.
Expressing gratitude for the years they shared, IK thanked the late actor for the conversations, laughter, lessons and unwavering support they enjoyed throughout their friendship.
He concluded his emotional tribute by describing it as one of the greatest honours of his life to have been called Alexx's brother, praying that they would meet again and wishing him eternal rest.
