While the association did not disclose the cause of death, they extended deep condolences to the bereaved family.

"We appeal to all alumni to remember the family of our late colleague in prayers, asking God to grant them strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time," the statement read. The association also urged members residing in Ibadan and neighboring areas to attend the funeral rites to pay their final respects.

A Legacy of Faith-Based Cinema

Beyond his prominent role in Abattoir, Oyeyemi was a staple in Mount Zion Faith Ministries productions. Over a prolific career dedicated to spreading the gospel through cinema, he starred in several notable films, including Fiwajomi, Seyifunmi, Olukoya, and Finding Grace. He was widely respected for his consistent portrayal of principled Christian characters.

A String of Tragedies for the Abattoir Cast

Oyeyemi’s passing marks another devastating blow for the Abattoir cast and crew, who have suffered a succession of heartbreaking losses in recent years.

February 2025: Actress Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, who played Flora—Oyeyemi’s on-screen wife in Abattoir—succumbed to severe injuries sustained in a horrific car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The accident, which occurred on December 26, 2024, also tragically claimed the life of her two-year-old twin daughter.

Late 2024: The production mourned the loss of veteran actor Moses Korede Are, fondly known by fans as 'Baba Gbenro,' whose impactful performance was central to the series' success.

Colleagues, fans, and the wider faith community continue to pour out tributes online, remembering Oyeyemi as a passionate minister who used his artistic talents as a tool for evangelism.
