Nollywood Actress Appeals for Help as Brother Battles Mental Illness for Seven Years

Nollywood actress Chidera Adiele has publicly appealed for assistance after revealing that her younger brother has been battling a mental health condition for the past seven years, despite receiving treatment at several psychiatric hospitals.

Opening up about her family's experience, Adiele said her brother's condition began in 2019 and that he has since been admitted to no fewer than seven psychiatric facilities in search of lasting recovery.

The actress explained that years of caregiving have left her emotionally, physically and financially drained, describing herself as the primary person responsible for supporting her brother throughout his prolonged health journey.

According to Adiele, every effort to secure sustained improvement has so far fallen short, prompting her to seek help beyond her immediate circle.

Her emotional appeal has resonated with many on social media, where supporters have expressed sympathy for the family while calling for increased awareness and stronger support systems for individuals living with mental health conditions and those who care for them.

The actress's story has also sparked renewed conversations about the challenges of accessing long-term mental healthcare and the often-overlooked burden carried by families navigating years of treatment and recovery.
