'Decentre Marriage' — Veteran Nollywood Actress Urges Women to Find Fulfilment Beyond Husbands

Veteran Nollywood actress Tayo Adeniyi has urged women in their late 30s and 40s not to define their happiness or self-worth by marriage or motherhood if those milestones have not yet happened.

Sharing her perspective, the actress said women should avoid making marriage and having children the sole focus of their lives, encouraging them instead to pursue purpose, personal growth and fulfilment in other areas.

Adeniyi noted that while marriage and family are important aspirations for many, they should not be seen as the only path to a meaningful life.

She encouraged women to invest in their careers, passions, businesses and personal development rather than allowing societal expectations to dictate their sense of achievement.

Her comments have sparked widespread discussions on social media, with many praising her for highlighting the importance of self-fulfilment and challenging the pressure often placed on women to marry and have children by a certain age.

The actress concluded by reminding women that a meaningful life is not determined solely by marital status or parenthood, but by living with purpose, confidence and contentment.
