Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has revealed that he receives a monthly salary of ₦503,000 as governor, while the state’s Permanent Secretaries earn ₦900,000.
Oborevwori made the disclosure on Thursday, August 20, during an engagement in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
The governor’s statement has attracted attention, particularly because the salary disclosed for his office is lower than the monthly earnings of Permanent Secretaries in the state.
He stated that while he earns ₦503,000 monthly, Permanent Secretaries receive ₦900,000 as their monthly salary.
The disclosure comes at a time when public discussions around the earnings of political office holders and senior government officials remain prominent, especially amid concerns over the rising cost of living.
Oborevwori’s revelation has consequently sparked reactions, with some Nigerians questioning the disparity between the salaries of elected political office holders and senior civil servants.
The Delta governor made the disclosure while speaking on governance and issues relating to workers and public service administration in the state.
