Nigerian author Jerry Falade has reportedly lost a publishing deal valued at more than $2 million following allegations that artificial intelligence (AI) may have been used to write his debut crime novel.
The reported setback came after Falade's literary agents said they were no longer able to authenticate the manuscript's development, despite the writer's repeated insistence that the novel was not generated or written with AI.
Falade has firmly denied the allegations, maintaining that the work is entirely his own. He also questioned whether Black authors face disproportionate scrutiny when their books receive major commercial interest.
