Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Buried In Ilaro Amid Tears
Tears and grief filled Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday as the remains of veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, were laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
Naija Brain reports that family members, friends, colleagues and sympathisers gathered in the actor’s hometown to pay their final respects to the 66-year-old movie star, whose death has left the Yoruba film industry mourning.
A video from the funeral showed mourners carrying Ogogo’s remains to the burial ground as the final Islamic rites were performed.
His longtime friend and colleague, Yinka Quadri, was among those present and was visibly overcome with emotion. The veteran actor broke down in tears as those around him tried to console him.
Other Nollywood personalities at the burial included Jide Kosoko, Faithia Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Mr Latin, Toyosi Adesanya, Ireti Osayemi and Bisi Omo Logbalogba, among others.
Family members and well-wishers also gathered to honour the late actor as he was committed to the earth.
Before the burial, actor Bola Oyin-Adejobi paid tribute to Ogogo and prayed for the deceased to attain Al-Jannah Firdaus.
The burial followed the arrival of Ogogo’s remains in Ilaro on Sunday, shortly after his death.
The veteran actor reportedly died at about 3 p.m. on Sunday at the age of 66, leaving colleagues and fans across the Yoruba movie industry mourning his passing.
