Duane “Keffe D” Davis has finally gone on trial in Las Vegas over the 1996 murder of hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur, nearly three decades after the rapper was fatally shot.
A key part of the prosecution’s case reportedly involves Davis’ 2019 memoir, in which he gave his account of the events surrounding the night Tupac was shot.
Prosecutors are seeking to use portions of the book as evidence in the long-running murder case, while Davis has maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty.
Tupac was shot in Las Vegas in September 1996 while travelling in a BMW with Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight. The rapper died six days later at the age of 25.
Davis was arrested in 2023 and charged in connection with the killing, bringing a major development to a case that has remained unsolved for decades.
The trial could provide fresh scrutiny of the circumstances surrounding Tupac’s death and the evidence investigators have gathered over the years.
