Halimat Omidina Recalls Baba Suwe’s Final Moments Before Death

Halimat Omidina, daughter of late Yoruba actor Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, has shared emotional memories of her father’s final days.

NaijaBrain reports that the model and content creator opened up about the moments on Saturday while commemorating what would have been the veteran actor’s 68th birthday.

Baba Suwe died on November 22, 2021, at the age of 63. He would have turned 68 on August 22, 2026.

In a series of posts on her 𝕏 account, @superstarrlimaa, Halimat expressed the pain of marking her father’s birthday without him.

She wrote, “Happy posthumous birthday, Daddy. Today feels so different, no crowd, no jollof rice, no you in your new shirt.”

Reflecting on their relationship, Halimat said she wished they had created more memories together and that she had held her father tighter when he spoke about his impending death.

“I wish I made more memories with you and hugged you tighter when you told me you’d die. May Allah have mercy on you and grant you Jannatul Firdaus,” she wrote.

She further revealed that Baba Suwe had told her he would die two days before his passing, but she dismissed the statement because she believed he was joking.

According to her, she was called home the following day after her father’s condition worsened. By the time she arrived, the actor could no longer speak.

She recalled, “The next day, I got a call to come home. He couldn’t talk anymore, and an hour later, he passed.”

Baba Suwe was one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema, featuring in several popular films, including Iru Esin, Baba Londoner, Oju Oloju and Baba Jaiye Jaiye.
