Nollywood actress Sikiratu Sindodo has opened up about her battle with a strange illness that left her fighting for her life.

Speaking in an interview with Oyinmomo TV, the actress revealed that the illness initially started as malaria but gradually became worse. According to her, her condition deteriorated to the point where she was moved from one hospital to another in search of proper treatment.

She revealed that the illness lasted for several months and became so severe that she eventually slipped into a coma. According to Sikiratu, doctors gave her mother a 50/50 chance of survival and at one point advised her to go home.

She explained that the illness initially started like malaria and typhoid before gradually worsening, forcing her to seek treatment at several hospitals.

“I was sick like someone who had malaria. Malaria/typhoid, that was it, and that was how it started gradually. From one General Hospital to another. I can’t remember how long it lasted. I think it lasted for months because I was in a coma and was given a 50/50 chance. My mum was even told to go home.”

Reflecting on the difficult period, Sikiratu, who admitted that she did not want to become emotional while recounting her experience, said she believes God answered many prayers during her ordeal.

“God answered a lot of prayers in my life. God has been faithful because I don’t want to be emotional.”

The actress also addressed the widespread reports surrounding her alleged relationship with MC Oluomo, admitting that the speculation had generated significant attention.

“The noise was too much. I didn’t know the noise would be that much.”

While celebrating her 49th birthday in February, the actress revealed that she had no plans to start behaving according to her age, despite getting older.

For her 47th birthday in 2023, Tayo expressed gratitude to God for preserving her life. She described the occasion as one worth celebrating, saying she was grateful to be alive and hopeful that she would live to celebrate many more birthdays.

In 2022, during her 46th birthday celebration, the Yoruba actress opened up about some of her personality traits. She described herself as a true lover who could be secretly wild and crazy, while also being one of the sweetest people when treated well.

Her friends and colleagues also surprised her with a birthday party to mark the occasion. Tayo was reportedly overwhelmed by the gesture and broke down in tears as she witnessed the love and support from those around her. At one point, she attempted to leave the event but was persuaded by her friends to stay.

Meanwhile, filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele previously recalled the impact Iyabo Ojo and Sikiratu Sindodo had on her early days in the entertainment industry. She recounted how Sikiratu would lend her clothes so she could look classy and presentable on movie sets, while Iyabo Ojo stood by her and helped her gain recognition in the industry.
