Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has responded to movie critic Tolu Fagbure after he questioned her acting talent and criticised her career.
Naija Brain reports that Fagbure made the remarks during an interview on Agbaletu, where he claimed that Ajao lacked the talent required to succeed in cinema.
Speaking about the actress, the critic said he did not believe her acting had a place in cinema, adding that her physical appearance was her major strength.
“I don’t think her acting has a place. I don’t think that is acting at all. She has a fine face, plastic delivery. The only thing she has going for her is her fine face; that’s admirable,” Fagbure said.
He further stated that he did not believe Ajao had talent, while stressing that the comments represented his personal opinion.
“That’s my opinion. My opinion is not sacrosanct; my opinion is not the end,” he added.
Reacting to the criticism, Eniola Ajao took to X to address the movie critic’s comments.
“Ahhh, so my fine face is the only thing carrying me? After all these years?” she wrote.
The actress added that she would continue to focus on her career, improve her craft and allow her audience to form their own opinions about her work.
“I will just keep doing what I know how to do: work, grow and let the audience decide. After all, opinions are free, but careers are built.
“Cinema or no cinema, I’m not stopping anytime soon. Ire oo,” Ajao added.
