Police on Wednesday arraigned seven suspects before the Kano State Magistrate’s Court in Nomansland over the alleged attack on traders at Farm Center Market in Kano State.
The suspects were accused of attacking the entourage of prominent politician AA Zaura during the April 28 incident.
According to the police, five suspects were initially arrested at the scene, while two others were later apprehended following intelligence-led investigations.
The spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Kano. He said the suspects were facing a five-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, unlawful assembly, possession of deadly weapons, and mischief.
Haruna-Kiyawa added that the attack led to the destruction of properties, including a Toyota ambulance vehicle and a tricycle.
