Nollywood Star Opeyemi Aiyeola Urges Celebs, Monarchs to Speak Out Against Yoruba Land Insecurity
Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has made a passionate appeal to celebrities, traditional rulers, and prominent citizens to break their silence on the rising insecurity plaguing Oyo State and the wider Yoruba region.
In an Instagram video posted on Tuesday, Aiyeola urged public figures to leverage their massive platforms and elite connections to spotlight the escalating wave of attacks and kidnappings. She pointed out that while many are currently preoccupied with upcoming elections, the worsening security situation—particularly in Oyo State—can no longer be ignored as it edges closer to major communities.
Directly addressing prominent figures such as the Ooni of Ife, the Olubadan, Lagos monarchs, and entertainment colleagues like Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Desmond Elliot, Lege Miami, and Eniola Badmus, she pleaded:
"I am just appealing to please let your heart speak. Use your pages, use your connections, use your links, use your voices... This is closer to home than expected."
Aiyeola’s emotional outcry follows a recent violent raid in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, where gunmen invaded schools in the Ahoro Esinele community and abducted several pupils, students, and teachers.
