Gunmen have reportedly abducted the younger sister and twin sons of the immediate past Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu. The incident occurred in Ibadan at around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
Femi Awogboro, the media aide to Adelabu—who is currently an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant for the 2027 election—confirmed the abduction in an official statement.
The victims have been identified as 43-year-old Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul. They were intercepted and forcefully taken by armed men while Mrs. John-Paul was driving her children to school.
According to the family statement, Mrs. John-Paul is a retired professional who previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian. She had recently relocated to Ibadan with her children, with plans to later join her husband in the United States.
Law enforcement and security agencies have been notified and have launched preliminary investigations to secure their safe rescue. The Adelabu family has appealed to the public for prayers and calm, urging citizens to avoid spreading unverified rumors that could compromise ongoing security operations.
