"Live Freely, Ignore the Noise" — Yul Edochie Reacts to Alexx Ekubo’s Secret Marriage

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has weighed in on the ongoing public discourse surrounding the private life of his late colleague, Alexx Ekubo, following revelations that Ekubo was married prior to his untimely passing.

The discussion sparked intense reactions online after details and photographs of the late actor's wife—which had been kept strictly confidential during his lifetime—began circulating on social media platforms and entertainment blogs.

The Catalyst: Nasboi Blasts ‘Vampire’ Blogs

The conversation gained traction after popular content creator and skitmaker, Nasboi, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to criticize the sudden media intrusion into Ekubo’s estate.

Nasboi commended the late actor for shielding his matrimonial life from what he described as the "harsh side of the internet," while lambasting digital publishers for exploiting the tragedy.

"Alex Ekubo kept his marriage away from the vulture internet," Nasboi wrote. "Now that he’s gone, blogs are already digging up and posting his wife. But na some of una still talk say na gay. These blogs are vampires. The only crime is being a public figure."

Edochie Advocates for Transparency and Resilience

Responding to the development, Yul Edochie expressed a contrasting viewpoint, arguing that public figures should not feel compelled to hide their personal lives out of fear of public scrutiny.

According to Edochie, public opinion is an unavoidable constant, and individuals should prioritize living authentically over seeking external validation or trying to appease critics.

"He shouldn’t have hidden anything from anyone. It wasn’t necessary," Edochie stated on X. "People must learn to stop worrying about what people say. No matter what you do in life, people must talk. So leave them to talk. Leave blogs to blog."

Edochie further advised that attempting to shrink oneself to fit public expectations is counterproductive to achieving greatness.

"To be great in life, you must never make yourself small for anyone or any reason. Give them things to talk about while you ignore them and enjoy your life," he added.

The revelation of Ekubo's marriage continues to generate mixed reactions across the Nigerian entertainment industry, reigniting the long-standing debate over the boundaries of privacy for public figures in the digital age.
