Nigerian actors Segun Arinze and Jerry Amilo have dismissed fresh concerns over the health and mental state of veteran actor Hanks Anuku, saying a viral video that reignited speculation about him is an old recording.
Naija Brain reports that the concerns resurfaced after a video circulated on social media on Saturday, June 27, 2026, showing Anuku lying by the roadside in Wuse 2, Abuja.
In the footage, the actor appeared to be talking to himself while holding a disposable cup, prompting widespread reactions from social media users. While many expressed concern over his wellbeing, others speculated that he may have been under the influence of alcohol.
Reacting to the viral clip, Segun Arinze clarified that the video was not recent, urging the public not to be misled.
“This is a very old video oo,” he wrote.
Jerry Amilo also debunked claims that the footage reflected Anuku's current condition, accusing some social media users of spreading false and harmful narratives about the actor.
“PLEASE THIS IS AN OLD VIDEO. STOP SPREADING EVIL NEWS AND WISHES,”
he wrote.
In November 2023, Hanks Anuku opened up about his battle with depression, revealing that his struggles contributed to his alcohol consumption at the time. He also alleged that some colleagues attempted to blackmail him out of jealousy.
