"You Can’t Criticize Government And Hide Your Own Plans" – Dayo Amusa to Peter Obi

Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has criticized Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), over his failure to provide specific details on how he intends to address the nation’s electricity and security challenges.

Amusa’s critique followed a recent interview between Obi and broadcaster Rufai Oseni, during which the former Anambra State governor declined to disclose the strategic details of his proposed policies.

Reacting to the interview via her official account on X (formerly Twitter), the actress argued that individuals seeking the country’s highest office must be prepared to articulate both their vision and their implementation strategies. She maintained that merely pointing out the shortcomings of current government policies is insufficient without presenting clear, actionable alternatives to the electorate.

"A leader should be able to answer how and what they can do differently," Amusa wrote. "No sir, you can’t criticize all government policies and not give solutions to them."

She further questioned Obi's decision to withhold the specifics of his manifesto, suggesting that transparency is a prerequisite for earning voter trust.

"It’s very obvious you don’t want people to vote [for] you, that is why you want to keep your plans to your chest," she added. "It’s not a secret affair; we want to know what you’re going to do differently. I watched the podcast with Rufai, it wasn’t inspiring."

According to reports by Naija Brain, Amusa emphasized that presidential candidates owe voters detailed explanations of their governance strategies rather than vague promises, asserting that Nigerians deserve full disclosure from anyone seeking their mandate.

Obi's campaign team has yet to respond to the actress's comments.
