Helen Paul Says P-Square Never Paid Her for 'Story' Intro

Years after Story became one of P-Square's most beloved songs, comedian and actress Helen Paul has revealed that she was the voice behind its unforgettable opening line—but never received a kobo for it.

Recounting the experience, Helen said she recorded the famous "Uncle, please tell us a story" intro, along with several children's voices featured in the track, during a studio session. What started as a simple voiceover would later become one of the most recognisable moments in Nigerian pop music.

Despite the song's massive success, the media personality disclosed that she was never paid for her contribution. Rather than dwell on it, she described the experience as one of the many lessons from her early years in the entertainment industry.

Her revelation has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many fans expressing surprise that the iconic voice belonged to Helen Paul and calling for greater recognition and fair compensation for creatives who contribute behind the scenes.
