Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has broken her silence amid growing rumours of a crisis in her marriage, sharing a series of emotional posts that have further fueled speculation about her relationship with husband Bobby Maris.
Naija Brain reports that speculation about the couple's marriage began after observant fans noticed that Ogbodo and Maris had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
The rumours gained momentum when both parties posted separate cryptic messages on their social media pages, prompting widespread reactions from fans.
In a fresh post shared on her Instagram Story, Ogbodo questioned why society considers it acceptable for a man to become tired of a marriage but criticises a woman for expressing the same feelings.
The actress said she was exhausted and wondered why admitting it should be seen as wrong.
She also argued that a woman's happiness in marriage in Nigeria often depends on having the right support system, questioning why deciding to walk away from a marriage should be treated as a sin.
Warning against being pushed beyond her limits, Ogbodo said she could only endure so much before reaching her breaking point.
Reflecting on her marriage, the actress said she had spent eight years in the relationship and questioned whether people expected her to remain for another two decades—or until her death—before her pain would be acknowledged.
She wrote: *“For Person to Tire for Marriage now nah Taboo because nah Woman! Must it always be Man must taya? My Tayad is Tayad! I am Tayad of the Princess wey dey marry me. What is wrong with that? To be happy As a Woman in Marriage nah by Connection in this Country!
“I no do again nah Sin? Make nobody push me to the wall because I be rubber ooo! 8 years of my life isn’t enough yet? Maybe I should give it 20 years or maybe 6feet under before the Crown of thorns can fit me well!!”*
Neither Ogbodo nor Maris has publicly confirmed that their marriage has ended, and the couple has yet to issue an official statement addressing the speculation.
