'I Was Misunderstood, I Don't Even Have a Degree' — Ycee Clears the Air

Nigerian rapper Ycee has voiced concern over what he describes as society's growing fixation on money, saying the relentless pursuit of wealth is gradually eroding people's values and priorities.

Speaking on the ongoing "Olodo Uprising" conversation, the rapper said many people misunderstood his earlier comments. He clarified that his message was never about academic qualifications, noting that he does not even hold a university degree.

According to Ycee, the real issue is how financial success has become the ultimate measure of intelligence, respect and personal worth, often overshadowing integrity, character and genuine knowledge.

The rapper urged people to rethink their priorities, stressing that education and wisdom should not be judged solely by certificates or financial status. His remarks have since sparked fresh conversations online, with many Nigerians debating the growing influence of money on society's values and perception of success.
