Founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has spoken out against the proposed restriction on preaching inside commercial buses, describing the move as a direct challenge to the Christian faith.
Addressing his congregation, the outspoken cleric declared that he would not stand by and watch the message of Christ be silenced, insisting that public evangelism remains a vital part of Christianity.
His remarks follow growing debate over the proposed FRSC Amendment Bill, which seeks to prohibit activities such as preaching, hawking and trading in commercial vehicles, with offenders facing penalties if the bill becomes law.
Ibiyeomie maintained that sharing the gospel should not be treated as a public nuisance, arguing that believers have a constitutional right to freely express their faith.
His comments have further fueled national conversations, with many religious leaders and Christian groups urging the government to reconsider the proposal. At the same time, supporters of the bill insist it is intended to improve safety and reduce distractions in public transport.
