TikTok content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, and his associate, Bello Oladipo, have been granted bail in the sum of ₦500,000 each by a Lagos Magistrate Court after being arraigned over allegations of obstructing police officers during an operation.

The duo, who were arraigned on charges filed by the Lagos State Police Command, pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

The court admitted them to bail with two sureties each, one of whom must be a blood relative. It also directed the defendants to provide tax clearance certificates covering the last two years before fulfilling the bail conditions.

The case was subsequently adjourned until August 11 for further hearing.

According to reports by Linda Ikeji, the charges stemmed from an incident on July 2 along Coastal Road in Lekki, Lagos, where police officers reportedly stopped Peller while he was driving a vehicle allegedly without number plates.

Peller reportedly informed the officers that the vehicle had just been purchased, but they insisted he accompany them to the police station.

The encounter allegedly escalated after the TikTok star began recording the incident with his mobile phone.

While Peller later accused the officers of acting aggressively during the encounter, the Lagos State Police Command denied the allegation and subsequently charged him and Oladipo.

The defendants are facing charges of resisting and obstructing police officers in the discharge of their lawful duties, as well as engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
