Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dismantled a major illegal arms manufacturing syndicate in Kebbi State, recovering five locally fabricated rifles during a high-stakes, intelligence-led raid.
The targeted operation, conducted in collaboration with sister security agencies, uncovered a secluded compound allegedly functioning as a makeshift factory for firearms supplied to terrorist and bandit groups operating across the North-West region.
The Raid and Seizures
Acting on actionable intelligence, joint security forces stormed the criminal hideout and conducted a sweeping search of the premises. The operation resulted in the seizure of five locally fabricated AK-47-style rifles and the immediate arrest of two suspected syndicate members believed to be key players in the production and distribution pipeline.
"This operation deals a significant blow to the criminal networks supplying weapons to armed groups in the region," a senior security source stated. "Disrupting the illicit arms trade remains a core objective of Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s broader campaign against terrorism and banditry."
Ongoing Investigations
The two suspects are currently in military custody, undergoing rigorous interrogation to map out the syndicate's wider network, identify its financiers, and trace the distribution channels feeding weapons to criminal elements.
Meanwhile, security agencies have launched aggressive follow-up operations to track down fleeing accomplices and completely dismantle any remaining cells of the manufacturing network.
Call for Public Vigilance
Military authorities have commended the growing inter-agency cooperation that made the raid successful and urged residents across the North-West to maintain heightened vigilance. Emphasizing that public cooperation is vital to ridding the region of banditry, the military reiterated its call for citizens to continuously provide timely and credible information to security forces.
