Mama G: God Gave Me the Witch Role

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has revealed why she became widely recognised for portraying witches, wicked women and other villainous characters in Nigerian movies.

The actress opened up about her career during a live interview with content creator Carter Efe on Monday.

Ozokwor explained that her frequent portrayal of troublesome and evil characters was not something she deliberately pursued. Rather, she believes the roles were part of the unique talent and opportunities God gave her.

According to the veteran actress, she embraced such characters because they provided an avenue to showcase different dimensions of her acting ability.

She stressed that playing an evil character on screen does not mean she supports the behaviour being portrayed. Ozokwor said she personally dislikes evil, injustice, war and conflict, but makes every effort to deliver such roles convincingly whenever they are assigned to her.

“I think God gave me that niche. I hate every ill because I don’t like injustice, war, and rancour,” she said.

She added that people should understand the consequences of their actions and consider the outcome of living either a good or terrible life.

“If you are taking part in any of them, you have to be careful and know the end thereof. Know what will happen to you if you live a terrible life, and know what you will gain if you are a good person,” she added.
