Cameroon football icon and FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto'o has scored a significant legal victory after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) overturned the disciplinary sanctions previously imposed on him.
The decision nullifies the four-match suspension that had barred Eto'o from attending official football matches in his capacity as Cameroon Football Federation president. CAF also revoked the accompanying financial penalty, bringing the disciplinary matter to a close.
The ruling comes after Eto'o challenged the sanctions, with the appeal ultimately ending in his favour.
Widely regarded as one of Africa's greatest footballers, the former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea striker has led FECAFOOT since 2021, overseeing key reforms to improve football administration in Cameroon.
The latest decision has been welcomed by many supporters, who see it as a major boost for the football legend's leadership and reputation.
With the sanctions lifted, Eto'o is now free to fully resume his official responsibilities and continue his work as head of Cameroon's football federation.
