Soludo urges Delta, Anambra to deepen economic ties, prioritise investment deals
Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has called for stronger economic collaboration between Delta and Anambra states, describing them as Nigeria's "twin growth hubs" capable of driving regional prosperity.
Speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit in Asaba, Soludo said the completion of the Second Niger Bridge had brought both states closer, creating opportunities for greater economic integration.
He urged both governments to institutionalise their relationship through joint working groups to promote investment, trade and industrial development.
"There are many areas where Anambra can learn from Delta and vice versa. We should build synergies instead of competing unnecessarily," he said.
The governor also said Nigeria's recent macroeconomic reforms had improved the investment climate, noting that exchange rate stability and easing inflation were restoring investor confidence.
Soludo stressed that investment summits should deliver tangible outcomes rather than end with speeches.
"Investment must become a habit, not just an event. What should follow today's discussions are business networking sessions, investment deals and concrete partnerships," he said.
He further advocated stronger support for local manufacturing, urging Nigerians to patronise Made-in-Nigeria products to create jobs and boost incomes.
As part of the push, Soludo proposed adopting a Made-in-Nigeria dress code for future investment summits.
"Imagine if over 240 million Nigerians deliberately chose to wear locally made clothing. Millions of jobs would be created. Perhaps at the next investment summit, attendance should be limited to those wearing Made-in-Nigeria outfits," he said.
